So, if UGA loses to LSU Florida will likely be ranked ahead of UGA despite not winning their division – again – and losing to UGA – again. The good news is that means they go to New Orleans.
0. So, if UGA loses to LSU Florida will likely be ranked ahead of UGA despite not winning their division – again – and losing to UGA – again.
No it doesn’t. Especially if UGA is competitive. It isn’t as if everyone doesn’t know that half of UGA’s offense is either playing hurt or on the sidelines completely.
1. “The good news is that means they go to New Orleans.”
UGA or UF? The bowls have this policy about taking the same team two years in a row. So the Gators won’t be going back to the Peach and the Bulldogs won’t be going back to the Sugar. As UGA already played them during the regular season, I predicted UF vs ND in the Fiesta. I think that UGA-Penn State in the Orange would be nice.
Fiesta huh? Interesting. Can’t wait to see it. Folks will be shocked.
The Peach and Fiesta bowls are the semi-final games, so UF is not going to either of those.
Ah, don’t tell him.
Hey genius, the Orange Bowl has a tie in to the ACC.
He’s clueless.
There is no “policy”. It might be a preference for bowl games with no conference tie ins.
Also, the sugar bowl has a tie in with the SEC and always takes the best available SEC team regardless of whether or not that team played last year.
If UGA remains ahead of UF if they lose to LSU, they will go to the Sugar bowl.
Also, the peach is a semi final bowl game in the CFP, so they will take what ever two teams they get. While not 100% about this, I do believe the #1 team gets to choose which location they want to play in, So if LSU is #1, I am pretty sure they will choose ATL since it is much closer to their fan base.
If OSU is #1, they probably pick Fiesta unless Utah is the #4 team. Their fanbase seems to love watching them play 8n the desert.
Don’t know about that but if UGA loses to LSU and mails it in their bowl game again and UF wins their bowl game again, the UF will finish ranked ahead of Georgia. Again
Congrats.
I certainly hope so if we do lose to LSU…Florida state champions 3 years in a row is a much bigger trophy anyway.
How goes it me palley. I was watching Christmas Vacation on the telly last evening and when I saw Cousin Eddie I thought to myself, that Mullet sure can act, and he’s a pretty darn good coach to boot. Congrats on a great season and here’s to achieving your goal of losing to LeghumperU and being ranked higher than them. CHeers mate. Looking forward to 4 in a row next year as the dynasty continues. Still waiting for that shot of Macallan 30 year old my friend…
based on this uf has the sugar bowl bama would likely get orange or citrus out of this…big 12 and acc have 2 teams, pac 12 3, big 10 with 6. OSU gets CFP wisconsin gets rose penn state gets orange or citrus minnesota goes to citrus or outback…wouldnt mind seeing penn st and minnesota vs ua and auburn…
Does a 2 loss team have a path to the playoff this year over Baylor if they win ugly versus Oklahoma and all heck breaks loose in the Pac 12 or Wisconsin pulls the upset?
Hard to see any of the non conference champion 2 loss teams making a case, but if Georgia and Utah go down are they going to put Baylor in if they win a squeaker? I’d say yes, but who knows.
LSU has Ohio State 52-7 in first place votes. I expect the AP to be similar, but we will know soon enough. The only thing that will matter is the final committee poll, where the 16 smartest people related to college football can overrule everyone else.
13 smart people.
Thanks again for the correction. The other two polls have about 10 times as many total voters, but these 13 are officially the experts, or so we are told.
You just don’t want to play Clemson.. (:
Or Ohio State in the first round.
So weird how SOS matters in many cases like undefeated teams who play weak schedules. But doesnt seem to matter with Bama, who lost the only 2 quality games they played this season.
Auburn played 5 high quality opponents, and won 2 including the head-to-head with Bama.
How can any logic justify them being ranked higher?
