Cole Cubelic shares SEC takeaways following Week 12 games
Cole Cubelic’s weekly takeaways are a social media staple during the SEC football season.
The busy SEC Network analyst finds time every Sunday to share his thoughts on how all the conference teams performed in their Saturday games. For Week 12, many of his followers are reading them on Monday, as they were posted after midnight Eastern. Week 12 had 13 teams in action. Vanderbilt was on a late bye, having taken part in Week 0 earlier this season.
Here’s what Cubelic had to say about every team in action:
ARKANSAS: Handled their business. QB handles reads well. His legs were big. 23 ran the ball well, good feel for zone scheme. Backs were really good with cut backs. 55 & 62 good up front. Like seeing 16 get involved more. Didn’t handle edges like they needed to. Pass pro solid…

FLORIDA: Unfortunate. Had chances. Operation issue late. 15 pretty good before the injury. Had a few sail. Hated to see it. Missed 58. Extra defenders affected the run game. 7 nice job working inside & outside. Made some great cuts. 1 legit. Needs more touches. 17 admirable job.…

KENTUCKY: Tough one. Just lacked consistent execution on offense. Run game hit & miss. 26 provided a spark. 8 was really nice, esp on 3rd down. QB just goes fastball on too many throws. Couple hit though. 84 getting dinged didn’t help. The turnovers were killer. Last strip of the…

MISSISSIPPI STATE: Handled their business. Great to see 7 & 2 back in the lineup! Saw a little rust but you saw the difference in the operation. Better balance. Stretch play effective, changed a few things up with inserts & locks. Got 1 & 5 going early. Like how 25 gets downhill.…

OLE MISS: Handled their business. Sluggish start but turned it on. Downhill run game effective. Mainly due to how 4 hits it. He was good in pass pro again. OL missed some rushers. Allowed penetration in some gap scheme runs. 54 filled in nice at RG. 78 played well mostly. QB…

TENNESSEE: Started great. Could not sustain. Defense was aggressive. Lost contain at times. Scramble drill hurt. LBs not great vs cut backs. 44 & 6 did bring intensity though. Yards after catch hurt. Don’t get off blocks well. Gave free access to WRs too often. Miserable on 3rd…

TEXAS A&M: Handled their business. Sort of. Sloppy on off. Should be thankful for big plays. Slide protection is still a huge problem. My brain can’t comprehend it. The free rushers at the QB are mind boggling. Missed stunts. Not coming off on defenders. Whiffs in run game. 0…
