Dakota Wesleyan University’s head basketball coach Matt Wilber is drawing headlines from a chair mishap over the weekend. No, he didn’t go full Bobby Knight either.
During Saturday’s GPAC basketball tournament game at the Corn Palace against Mount Marty, Wilber went to sit down in his chair on the bench; however, his chair wasn’t even there, and he missed the bench entirely and fell on the court instead.
Few at the game likely caught the incident live; however, Wilber tweeted the video and joked that he would submit his resignation immediately, because there’s no coming back from this one.

The seven-second video then went viral on social media, and as of Tuesday morning, Wilber’s video has nearly 1.4 million views and over 3.3 million shares and over 37,000 likes.
The good news is that Dakota Wesleyan won the game 86-62, and the team plays in the tournament championship game Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. against Concordia University.
Dakota Wesleyan is 23-8 overall on the season.
