College football coach pledges to buy fans' beer 'for the entire game ... go get 'em'
Bruce Barnum is set to become a popular man around Portland State.
The head football coach declared on a local podcast that he would buy fans’ beer “for the entire game” of the upcoming matchup with Western Oregon this week.
“I’m not buying your ticket, but I’ll buy your beer,” Barnum told John Canzano on the BFT Podcast at the 2:30 mark. When asked how many beers he’d be willing to buy, the 57-year-old head coach said “all of them.”
All fans need to say is “I heard Barney on the BFT.”
“I make enough to take the hit, I make enough to try to do this, I got to get people to see my kids, I’ve got a good team,” he said.
Portland State is off to an 0-2 start with losses to Hawaii and Washington State. Barnum is well-known around PSU as this is his seventh year as head coach and 12th year overall with the program.
