College football player suffers heart attack during team workout

A UNLV player is in stable condition after suffering a heart attack during a recent team workout.
According to Mark Anderson of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, UNLV running back Darran Williams suffered a heart attack during a Tuesday morning workout. Anderson reports that the news was broken by father Keith Williams in a post made on a private Facebook account and picked up by The Oklahoman.
UNLV released a statement to news outlets in response to the Williams reports:
“A UNLV football student-athlete had a medical episode during the warm-up of a team workout Tuesday morning. He is being treated by doctors at a local hospital with his family at his side. The thoughts and prayers of the entire UNLV community are with him and his family.”
Williams is set to enter his season. As a junior, he appeared in 5 games last season, rushing for 79 yards and a touchdown. He is in stable condition, according to Anderson.
