College football fans will have the opportunity to see playoff action on screens a bit larger than their televisions.

ESPN announced Monday that the network and TNT Sports have agreed to have all 11 College Football Playoff games televised live on movie theater screens. The 11 games include four CFP First Round games, the CFP Quarterfinal at the Fiesta Bowl, the CFP Quarterfinal at the Peach Bowl, the CFP Quarterfinal at the Rose Bowl, the CFP Quarterfinal at the Sugar Bowl, the CFP Semifinal at the Orange Bowl, the CFP Semifinal at the Cotton Bowl, and the College Football Playoff National Championship.

This won’t be the first instance of college football on the big screen. Monday’s announcement notes that 28 movie theater exhibitors showed games on over 400 screens during the 2023-24 season.

“Through our collaborative relationship with ESPN, college football fans can experience the game they love in compelling and innovative ways,” Scott Daw, President and COO of Theater Sports Network said in a released statement.

“The immersive experience of viewing the game on the big screen allows fans to be a part of the action. This is something every fan needs to experience for themselves! Watching your favorite team on an enormous screen, in Dolby Atmos surround sound, with likeminded fans, all while enjoying expert ESPN analysis and replays, there is nothing quite like it. This initiative enables movie theaters to be a great place for college football fans to experience the game as never before.”

CFP action begins on Dec. 20 with First Round games played on college campuses. The Quarterfinals will be played on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Semifinals are set for Jan. 9-10, 2025, with the championship game played on Jan. 20.
