College Football Playoff rankings: Media members rank top 4 teams after SEC Championship Game
The final College Football Playoff rankings come out Sunday at 12 p.m. ET. on ESPN.
With Alabama’s upset win over Georgia in the SEC Championship Game, both the Tide and Bulldogs will now make the Playoff. The order isn’t irrelevant either, as the 1-seed plays the 4-seed, and the 2-seed plays the 3-seed. So, it’s highly likely the Tide and Bulldogs won’t play either other again in the first round.
Cincinnati defeated Houston in the AAC Championship Game; so, the Bearcats are in the Playoff, as they were ranked No. 4 last Tuesday night.
Assuming Michigan beats Iowa in the Big Ten Championship Game Saturday night, the teams will be Alabama, Georgia, Michigan and Cincinnati, but in what order?
Media members weigh in on the rankings:
Alabama
Michigan ( if they win)
Georgia
CincinnatiPretty easy at this point

What does the committee do? You can’t have a Bama-Georgia rematch, right?
1 Alabama
2 Michigan
3 Georgia
4 CincinnatiOr…
1 Michigan
2 Alabama
3 Cincinnati
4 Georgia— Ross Dellenger (@RossDellenger) December 5, 2021
Should this SEC Championship hold and Michigan wins tonight, the selection committee will avoid the UGA/Bama rematch early.
1 Alabama vs. 4 Cincinnati (Orange Bowl)
2 Michigan vs. 3 Georgia (Cotton)— Brad Crawford (@BCrawford247) December 4, 2021
If #Michigan wins, I see it being:
1. Alabama
2. Michigan
3. Georgia
4. Cincinnati— Brandon Brown (@BSB_Wolverine) December 4, 2021
Right now:
Alabama IN
Georgia IN
Cincinnati INMichigan is left to give the #CFBPlayoff committee zero drama tomorrow.

We’re going to have Alabama, Georgia, Cincinnati and ? in the playoff.
At a minimum, 3 of the 5 P-5 leagues are getting left out. So about that expansion thing …

1. Alabama. 2. Michigan* 3. Georgia. 4. Cincinnati. My best guess (*assuming a Michigan win) believing the CFP committee will avoid a Bama-Georgia rematch in the semis).
