Last Saturday, the FCS kicked off the college football season with the Austin Peay Governors at the Central Arkansas Bears. Despite a hot-start 75-yard touchdown on the first play of the game by the Governors, Central Arkansas marched back in the second half and won 24-17.

Now, the Bears turn right around and face UAB Thursday night in Birmingham. The good news is that following the win over Austin Peay, no players from Central Arkansas tested positive for COVID-19. The Governors were tested as recently as Wednesday.

Two FBS games are on the schedule for Thursday night.

College football schedule for September 3, 2020

  • 8:00 p.m. ET: Central Arkansas (1-0) at UAB, Legion Field in Birmingham, AL (ESPN3)
  • 9:00 p.m. ET: South Alabama at Southern Mississippi at M.M. Roberts Stadium in Hattiesburg, MS (CBSSN)

UAB is favored to beat Central Arkansas by 18.5 points, per Vegas Insider, and it’s a classic FBS vs. FCS game. Southern Miss is favored by 16 points over South Alabama.

SEC football isn’t scheduled to start until Saturday, September 26, but several non-SEC games will take place in the next 2 weeks.
