Delaware State gained some attention on social media Saturday in the punting game. The Hornets had a 77-yard punt in the fourth quarter.

Besides the punter, the other star on the play for Delaware State was the player who kept the ball from rolling into the endzone for a touchback.

The ball originally landed around the Army 25-yard line and bounced inside the five where it was fielded by the Hornets. Punters are more important than people realize.

At the end of the day the punt didn’t make too much of a difference in the outcome. Delaware State ended up losing to Army 57-0.

While Delaware State was blown out by the Black Knights, the Hornets can at least say that the special teams did their part.
