College GameDay invading the 2018 NFL Draft: ESPN2 will cover event from college perspective
The ever-expanding draft coverage for the NFL looks to be gaining yet another broadcast angle as ESPN2 will reportedly feature College GameDay at the draft covering the event from the college perspective.
While the NFL’s annual draft was already covered by ESPN and the NFL Network in year’s past, this year’s draft will also be covered by FOX. FOX’s coverage of the draft will be nationally broadcast during the first three rounds of the 2018 NFL Draft. Troy Aikman and Joel Klatt will be featured during the network’s coverage of the event.
In retaliation, ABC, ESPN’s parent company, has decided to nationally broadcast the final four rounds of the draft for the first time. ESPN’s decision to have College GameDay at the draft was broke by John Ourand of Sports Business Journal. The New York Post is also reporting the ESPN2 will have an “alternative telecast” for the first round of the draft but does not specify it will be College GameDay.
If you plan to watch the draft from a college perspective, it appears ESPN is going to give you that option this year.
ESPN will produce "College GameDay from the NFL Draft this year. ESPN2 will feature the GameDay crew discussing the Draft from a college perspective. More info coming in Sports Business Daily.
