College GameDay is gearing up for a Championship Weekend broadcast from Atlanta, Georgia and the site of the SEC Championship Game. On Thursday, ESPN confirmed a prominent actor will be on hand to serve as the guest picker.
That special guest will be none other than Timothee Chalamet, one of the most popular actors in recent years. Chalamet has appeared in movies such as the Dune series, Wonka, Don’t Luke Up and A Complete Unknown for the role of Bob Dylan.

While Chalamet is certainly a prominent actor, the announcement was met with some skepticism and questioning from fans on social media. That’s somewhat understandable.
College GameDay traditionally uses guest pickers with some form of ties to the school’s playing or the regional location of where the game is being played. On the surface, Chalamet does not fit either bill for Georgia or Texas who set to face off in Atlanta.
Either way, it will be back-to-back years for ESPN’s flagship pre-game show to air on-location from the site of the SEC Championship Game. Last season, Alabama upset Georgia to bump the Bulldogs out of the 4-team Playoff.
Saturday’s SEC title game is set for a 4 pm ET kickoff on ABC.
