Cormani McClain, one of the nation’s most sought-after players in the class of 2023, has decided to play in the ACC instead of the SEC.

The 5-star Lakeland, Fla. cornerback committed to Miami on Thursday over Alabama and Florida.

The 6-foot-2, 165-pound McClain is rated as the nation’s No. 1 cornerback and the No. 2 overall prospect, according to the 247Sports Composite. The 247Sports Crystal Ball projected Florida to have 100 percent odds to land McClain.

Instead, McClain is electing to take his talents to Coral Gables for a Miami program looking to restoring itself back to its previous spot as a national title contender.

Florida is currently ranked as having the nation’s No. 9 class for 2023, anchored by 4-star defensive lineman Kelby Collins and 4-star wide receiver Aidan Mizell.

Meanwhile, Alabama is still atop the team rankings for the Class of 2023. Alabama has 5 5-star recruits: safety Caleb Downs, cornerback Jahlil Hurley, running back Justice Haynes, running back Richard Young, and safety Tony Mitchell.
