The more time passes, the more likely it seems that the upcoming college football season will be played as states begin to open back up following closures forced upon the nation by the coronavirus pandemic.

While the return of students to campus has been a hot topic for weeks, FOX Sports analyst Joel Klatt expressed his opinion that returning athletes to campus may be the safest thing for everyone involved.

“These football players many of them are at home in places that are not very good for them, okay,” Klatt said in a video posted by FoxSports.com. “The fact remains is that these institutions, these programs, can care for these kids nutritionally, structurally, mental health, doctors, testing, everything — nutrition, training better on campus than they can at home. So they’re desperate to get these kids back to care for them with the best possible care.”

Urban Meyer, Klatt’s fellow FOX Sports analyst, not only agreed with that take, he took things a step further.

According to the former Ohio State and Florida coach, he’s had enough conversations with people around college football that he doesn’t see any chance college football isn’t played in 2020 — in some capacity.

“I agree and I’ve had many many conversations — there will be football [in 2020],” Meyer responded. “And there are certain areas of the country that have not been impacted by the C virus and so they will play football. I’ve talked to enough people that they’re adamant that this will happen, and what that’s going to look like, to be determined, but they’ll be playing, there’ll be football this fall.”

Regardless of what your opinion may be of Meyer, that’s exactly what college football fans want to hear this spring as we all anxiously await a decision on the upcoming season.
