With National Signing Day approaching, here’s a look at the five most important recruiting storylines in the SEC.

1. Will Muschamp be able to sway targets to Auburn?: Players love playing for Will Muschamp. It was evident by the exile of committed prospects and NFL Draft eligible players at Florida following his departure. With Muschamp stepping in as the defensive coordinator under one of the SEC’s best coaches, Auburn has even more incentives to sway recruits before National Signing Day. Gus Malzahn alone is enough to garner interest, but the pairing of his offense with Muschamp’s defense is all the more enticing. Martez Ivey, the top ranked player according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, will decide between the Tigers and the Gators, Muschamp’s former team.

2. Can South Carolina salvage its depleted class?: The Gamecocks 2015 class was, at one point, ranked top-5 in the nation. But after six decommitments, South Carolina ranks No. 12 overall and sixth in the SEC. The Gamecocks should continue to fall if they fail to earn more commitments before signing day.

3. Will Butch Jones bring in another top-5 class to Tennessee?: In his first full season on the recruiting trail, Butch Jones signed a top-5 recruiting class, despite coming off a 5-7 debut season in 2013. Jones is on pace to match that success in 2015, with the Vols currently ranked No. 5 overall. Tennessee is still targeting several players that could boost its ranking on National Signing Day.

4. How will Jim McElwain, other new coaches’ first class look?: The Gators currently have eight commitments for 2015. However, McElwain has impressed several of the nation’s top uncommitted players, including in-state products Ivey and Bryon Cowart. The first-year coach must salvage the SEC’s lowest ranked class, which ranks No. 76 overall.

Aside from Muschamp, several other first-year coordinators will need to make an impact for their teams to have success. Georgia still needs to hire an offensive coordinator, but should be fine with the No. 3 overall class. Kentucky and Vanderbilt, SEC’s only teams to miss out on bowl eligibility, both have new coordinators and will need a late push to improve their respective classes.

5. Will Alabama repeat as the nation’s top recruiting class?: Nick Saban has dominated the recruiting trail since arriving at Alabama. The Tide has ranked No. 1 overall in each of the last four classes and top-5 every year since 2007. Currently, Alabama ranks No. 1 overall and should add some targets before National Signing Day with the Under Armour and U.S. Army All-American games taking place this week.
