Reports: Multiple Power 5 leagues expected to join Big Ten in shifting to conference-only schedule for 2020 season
Based on recent events in the world of college football, it appears it’s only a matter of time before the Southeastern Conference shifts to either a conference-only or regional schedule for the coming football season.
If you missed the big news on Thursday, the Big Ten has announced it will shift to a conference-only schedule for the 2020 college football season.
News of the Big Ten’s decision was first reported by Nicole Auerbach, who is now reporting that the Pac-12 will make the same move. In addition to that news, Brett McMurphy of Stadium is now reporting the ACC is expected to make the same decision.
It’s unclear exactly when these moves would be made official but it likely won’t be long before the news becomes official as the Big Ten has already made the move to a conference-only schedule, which affects several non-conference scheduling across college football.
If the ACC and Pac-12 both move to conference-only schedules, the SEC and the Big 12 would be the only Power 5 leagues that are pushing ahead as scheduled.
