Danny Kanell is dreaming of a College Football Playoff without the SEC in 2023.

The early results on Saturday — wins by Texas and Alabama in their respective conference championship games — have made that a possibility if Florida State beats Louisville in the ACC title game, according to the former Noles quarterback.

Here’s the message he shared shortly after Alabama upset Georgia on Saturday night:

The SEC has never been left out of the College Football Playoff before.

Washington seems to be a lock for the top 4 after it finished off a 13-0 season with another win over Oregon on Friday night. Michigan is also likely to be in the top 4 — it is favored by more than 3 touchdowns in the Big Ten Championship Game on Saturday night.

If Florida State wins, the Noles would join Washington as the only 13-0 teams in the Power 5 this season.

That would leave 2 spots for 4 teams: Florida State, Texas, Alabama and Georgia. In Kanell’s scenario, Florida State would get in as an undefeated conference champion. Additionally, Texas would get the nod for the final spot by way of its head-to-head win over the Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa from back in September.

The final College Football Playoff rankings will be revealed at 12 p.m. ET on Sunday afternoon.
