College football’s regular season has come to a close and CBS analyst and former Florida State quarterback Danny Kanell continues to march to the beat of his own drummer.

After each week of the season, Kanell has released his list of the top 8 teams in the country, and his list has oftentimes gone against the grain.

On Sunday morning, Kanell unveiled his latest top 8 and it included some surprises, most notably Alabama dropping to 5th behind fellow 1-loss teams Michigan and Oklahoma State, which were Nos. 3 and 4, respectively.

In the top 2 spots were the lone unbeaten teams in the country, Georgia and Cincinnati, while Ole Miss was 6th, Baylor 7th, and Notre Dame 8th, despite the fact that the Fighting Irish have fewer losses than the Rebels or the Bears and Kanell has maintained each week that “winning matters.”

What will Kanell’s list look like after the conference championship games are played next week? One can only wonder.
