Deion Sanders reportedly set to hire multiple Pro Football Hall of Famers to join his coaching staff at Jackson State
Deion Sanders’ hire at Jackson State may have appeared to come out of left field but the NFL Hall of Famer claimed during his introductory press conference at the school that he has been working on assembling his coaching staff for some time.
In fact, Sanders noted he had his coaching staff locked up for months.
According to Joe Cook, the Sports Director of WAPTNews in Jackson, Sanders is planning on hiring a pair of NFL Hall of Famers to join him in JSU — Terrell Owens will be coaching the team’s receivers while Warren Sapp will be coaching the defensive line.
Here is what the new Jackson State coach had to say during his introductory press conference.
“We’ve met twice a week on Zoom for quite some time,” Sanders noted. “We already have installed offensively and defensively, as well as special teams. So the reluctancy is just to secure people some of those coaches are still employed at various colleges, so we just try to secure them in to make sure they don’t ruffle any feathers, but that staff has been completed for quite some time – probably for the last several months, that’s been done.”
Here is the full report from Joe Cook:
#CoachPrime talked about his staff this morning and how they have over 80 years of combined NFL playing or coaching experience. With T.O., Warren Sapp and Deion himself that really fits that description. Buckle up. pic.twitter.com/8OcOShQDSX
