Deion Sanders is heading Northwest.

Sanders, current head coach at Jackson State, caused a bit of a stir following the SWAC title game victory against Southern, informing the media he would not be doing a postgame press conference. There was speculation, but now it seems clearer.

Sanders met with his team privately and informed them that he would be taking the head coaching job at Colorado, according to a report from 247Sports’ Carl Reed.

Reports have been point Sanders towards Colorado for some time now. Pete Thamel reported that Sanders would be taking the Colorado job Friday, but wanted to wait until after the SWAC Championship to officially announce it.

Sanders transformed Jackson State into a SWAC powerhouse, leading the Tigers to a 27-5 record across 3 seasons. Jackson State finished this season a perfect 12-0, led by Sanders’ son Shedeur Sanders, one of the top quarterbacks in Division I FCS.

Expect Shedeur to follow his father to Colorado.
