Our CFB Bowl Picks

Andrew Olson

Bryson Barnes, Utah: Lower than 177.5 yards passing
Barnes can rack up the passing attempts and yards when the Utes are playing from behind, but I don’t see that happening against Northwestern. The Las Vegas Bowl has produced some ugly blowouts, but this should be a closer contest with the Utes relying on their ground game.
Chevan Cordeiro, San Jose State: Higher than 211.5 passing yards
Cordeiro, a native of Honolulu, heads into the Hawaii Bowl averaging 213.2 passing yards per game, a number boosted by his 249-yard performance in the regular-season finale against UNLV. I don’t see the Coastal Carolina defense spoiling Cordeiro’s homecoming swan song.

Ben Bryant, Northwestern: Higher than 24.5 pass attempts

To piggyback off of Andrew’s Bryson Barnes pick, we’ll go with the other QB with “BB” initials in this game. Northwestern should be playing from behind, so Bryant will have to throw for the Wildcats to keep up. Give me 25+ pass attempts for the Northwestern QB.

Grayson Loftis, Duke: Higher than 193.5 passing yards

Loftis is no Riley Leonard, but he’s still been superb in his last 2 outings. He threw for 248 yards against Pitt and 278 against Virginia. Troy is a very good Group of 5 team, but Loftis should still have plenty of passing lanes as the Blue Devils finish off their season on a high note against the Trojans.

Our NFL Week 16 Picks

Andrew Olson

Stefon Diggs, Buffalo Bills: Higher than 69.5 receiving yards
Diggs hasn’t been very Diggs-like as of late, with 4 of his last 5 outings coming in under 50 receiving yards. I think the Chargers are just what the doctor ordered for Diggs to get back to being the WR1 we’ve come to know.
Calvin Ridley, Jacksonville Jaguars: Higher than 55.5 receiving yards
Good luck trying to figure out how Ridley came away with just 39 yards on 12 targets in Week 15 against Baltimore. I’m riding with Ridley’s recent high volume continuing with a more favorable matchup against Tampa Bay.
Isaiah Pacheco, Kansas City Chiefs: Higher than 64.5 rushing yards
It’s fitting that Pacheco is facing Las Vegas, because this pick involves taking a bit of a chance. Pacheco is coming back from injury, and all indications are he’ll be back in the lineup on Monday. Getting a line of 64.5 rushing yards against the Raiders defense is worth rolling the dice.

James Cook, Buffalo Bills: Higher than 95.5 rushing+receiving yards

It’s safe to say Joe Brady has fully unlocked James Cook. He had 200+ rushing+receiving yards in his last outing and has gone over the 100-yard mark in 3-straight games. He’ll take advantage of a lax LA Chargers defense on Saturday night and make it 4 in a row.

Joe Mixon, Cincinnati Bengals: Higher than 46.5 rushing yards

Mixon has been a workhorse for the Bengals since QB Joe Burrow went down with an injury. He’s had 47+ rushing yards for 3 games in a row and should find plenty of running room at Pittsburgh on Saturday. Even if the weather is bad, the Bengals should lean on Mixon.

Justin Jefferson, Minnesota Vikings: Higher than 6.5 receptions

Jefferson had 7 catches on 10 targets in his first game with Nick Mullens as his QB. Mullens seems to understand that you need to get the ball to your playmakers and let them do the work. Against a Detroit team that has played lackluster defense lately, I like Jefferson to have 7 more catches on Sunday.
