Our Week 8 College Football Picks

Andrew Olson

Keon Coleman, Florida State: Higher than 68.5 receiving yards

Duke has a good passing defense. Only Sam Hartman and Notre Dame have gone over 5 yards/attempt against the Blue Devils this season. I can’t, however, pick against Coleman. He shows up big time for big games. He may not hit triple digits like last week, but Coleman will ball out in front of a sold-out home crowd.

Xavier Restrepo, Miami: Higher than 74.5 receiving yards

Restrepo has been good for at least 5 catches in every game this season. He’s already gone over 100 receiving yards 3 times, and posted 96 last week against North Carolina. UM’s top receiver hitting the 75-yard mark makes this pick attractive.

Drew Allar, Penn State: Higher than 0.5 interceptions

In his first season as the starter, Allar has been outstanding. He has yet to throw an interception this season, and I think that comes to an end on Saturday. Jim Knowles’ unit might as well be the first defense to pick off Allar.

Adam Spencer

Nicholas Singleton, Penn State: Higher than 72.5 rush+receiving yards

Singleton has gone over this total in 3 of his last 4 games and 2 of 3 B1G contests so far this year. If the Nittany Lions are going to finally beat Ohio State, Singleton is going to have to be special. I think they’ll feed him the ball as a runner early and often and utilize his skills as a receiver a few times to get him over this total.

Dillon Gabriel, Oklahoma: Higher than 305.5 pass yards

The Oklahoma QB is firmly in the Heisman Trophy race this year (even if he’s currently behind Washington QB Michael Penix Jr.). UCF currently has the No. 1 pass defense in the Big 12, but that’s mostly because the Knights have the worst run defense and have suffered a pair of blowout losses in league play. Oklahoma will use this opportunity to pad Gabriel’s stats in the first 3 quarters.

Luther Burden III, Mizzou: Higher than 100.5 receiving yards

Before Kentucky limited Burden to 2 catches for 15 yards last week, the superstar Mizzou receiver had gone over the 100-yard mark in 5-straight games. South Carolina doesn’t have the defense Kentucky had. Getting back home to Faurot Field will do Burden some good and he’ll get back on track for the Biletnikoff Award on Saturday.

Our Week 7 NFL Picks

Andrew Olson

Zach Ertz, Arizona Cardinals: Lower than 24.5 receiving yards

Ertz’s stock seems to be trending down in Arizona, with Trey McBride getting more of the TE looks. After last week’s quiet performance, I don’t expect Ertz to do much against the Seahawks.

Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles: Higher than 255.5 passing yards

It’s another Bama Bowl, with Hurts’ Eagles against Tua Tagovailoa’s Miami Dolphins. With these offenses, it sets up well for a shootout. I don’t see Philadelphia having much success slowing down the Dolphins’ offense. The Eagles will likely throw a lot to keep up, and Hurts should bounce back after an off week in Week 6.

Adam Spencer

Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills: Higher than 1.5 pass TDs

The Patriots are a disaster this year. They’re also without star rookie CB Christian Gonzalez, who had quickly become an indispensable part of their defense. This could get ugly for New England in a hurry. I expect both Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis to snag touchdown passes in this matchup. Allen could finish with 3-4 TD passes.

Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens: Higher than 223.5 pass yards

Jackson is off to a very slow start as a passer. His highest single-game passing yards total this year so far is only 237, which is odd to see. However, playing against the Detroit Lions could snap him out of his slump. Yes, the Lions have drastically improved defensively, but they’re still susceptible to giving up big pass plays. The Lions’ offense should be able to put up enough points to force Jackson and the Ravens to throw for all 4 quarters.
