Doug Gottlieb amongst 'names to watch' for D1 head coaching vacancy, per report
Doug Gottlieb is a potential candidate for a Division 1 head coaching job, per a report.
According to ESPN’s latest coaching carousel update, Gottlieb is a “name to watch” for the head coaching vacancy at Green Bay.
Gottlieb was named amongst several other coaches, including former Cincinnati head coach John Brannen. Gottlieb currently hosts his own show on Fox Sports Radio.
Gottlieb doesn’t have any collegiate coaching experience, but he has interviewed for jobs in the past. He interviewed for the Oklahoma State head coaching vacancy in 2017. Gottlieb played for the Cowboys from 1997-2000.
He did previously serve as an assistant coach for Team USA at the 2009 Maccabiah Games. He also coached for Team USA at the 2017 Maccabiah Games.
Green Bay plays in the Horizon League. It parted ways with coach Will Ryan this year after he went 15-61 in 3 years at the helm.

Uhh….jeeze, ummm, uh Spence…wtf? Does your contract with SDS require you to write at least one useless article a day?
There are 353 D1 college basketball teams, and you could argue that only about a 1/3 of those head coaches are consistently successful. That estimate is probably high. These are men that dedicate their lives to coaching, but there is an AD who thinks a guy who talks on the radio is more likely to be successful.
I hope the Green Bay AD is floating this to draw attention to the job opening. If he’s really considering this hire the school should probably look for a new AD first.
shaka smart and Fran Mcaffery have both recommended him on record as being the perfect fit!
