Due to COVID-19, a college football game has already been canceled
Since 1990, the Southern Heritage Classic has been played 28 times, with the only cancellation coming in 2018 due to inclement weather.
Jackson State and Tennessee State have faced off in that game 26 times, and every time since 1994. However, this year, the game has already been canceled.
Per a tweet from the game’s Twitter account, the game is being canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic:
Due to COVID-19, the 31st Southern Heritage Classic has been canceled. Refunds for the football game can be recieved at the point of purchase.

The game, set to be played at the Liberty Bowl in Memphis, was originally scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 12.
This is perhaps the first 2020 college football game to be canceled due to the pandemic. Historically, Tennessee State leads the series 17-10 over Jackson State.
If these idiots can run around protesting elbow to elbow. And that by the thousands. We can play college football. We can’t stay closed down forever. It’s time to move forward and stop talking about covid19. Can we just move on already? Sheesh
Coach Dan Mullen
You’re right, we should just stop talking about it. Like all problems, the best thing to do is ignore it and hope it goes away…
Are we sure it’s about the COVID? Maybe they’re just scared of the SJWs protesting “Southern Heritage”. Look for them to rename it next year.
This is a game between two HBCU’s, so I highly doubt anybody is waving around the stars and bars at their games.
It’s a game between two HBCU’s, for god’s sake, as any educated adult would understand. Educate yourself.
We’re already seeing massive portions of rosters test positive…15% of the roster already at Texas, similar (a little lower, I think) numbers at K-State. We’re just into voluntary workouts. It’s June 18th.
The 2020 season isn’t happening, not if anyone is sane. The sooner we realize that the better.
