EA Sports has revealed overall team ratings for the best 25 teams in its coming college football video game release.

Georgia headlines the list with a 95 overall team rating. The Bulldogs are far-and-away the top-rated team in the game, with only 2 other programs even receiving a 93 rating. The Bulldogs return quarterback Carson Beck along with several other key contributors and have lost a total of 2 games over the past 3 seasons.

The SEC also has 3 teams included in the top-5, with Alabama and Texas both earning 92-overall ratings. The Crimson Tide and Longhorns both made the College Football Playoff last season and will also have their starting quarterbacks returning for 2024.

Two Big Ten programs, Ohio State and Oregon, made the top 3. The Buckeyes and Ducks are the clear favorites in the Big Ten this season, so it makes sense to see them toward of top of this list.

The top-25 ranking includes 7 SEC programs, which is tied for the most of any conference. The Big Ten also has 7 programs represented in the top-25. The ACC and Big 12 each have 5 teams included as well. Notre Dame is the only team outside of the 4 power conferences to make the cut.

SEC snubs

Tennessee’s exclusion from this list is surprising, especially given the momentum the program is carrying into the 2024 season. The Vols will have former 5-star quarterback Nico Iamaleava under center this year and should be much-improved on offense after taking a step back in 2023.

Furthermore, the last time Tennessee played a game, it crushed Iowa 35-0 in the Citrus Bowl. The Hawkeyes did make the cut at No. 25, adding the surprise regarding Tennessee’s snub.

Missouri is also a surprise snub, given its 11-win season from last year and its high aspirations for the 2024 campaign. The Tigers are currently +185 to make the College Football Playoff according to FanDuel, which places them firmly as a top-15 team in the betting markets.
