This year’s Egg Bowl was an exciting one, and it led to the highest viewership ratings in 6 years.

According to Sports Media Watch, this year’s Ole Miss vs. Mississippi State game drew in a total of 2.29 million viewers, which is an increase from last year’s number of 2.23 million and the highest since 2017 when Ole Miss knocked off the No. 14 Bulldogs 31-28.

Unfortunately for the millions of viewers tuning in for this year’s game, it wasn’t exactly the most exciting game. There were just 3 points scored in the first half of the game and it was a bit of a snoozefest. Things picked up a little bit in the second half as Mississippi State took the lead, but Ole Miss pulled away in the fourth quarter and took the game 17-7.

The game marked the end of an era for Mississippi State as its season came to a close. Now the Bulldogs are beginning a new era under Jeff Lebby, who was hired in the days following the game.
