Eli Drinkwitz bans recruiting staffer from practice due to family connection to Texas A&M QB
Eli Drinkwitz isn’t taking any chances regarding this weekend’s game against Texas A&M.
The Mizzou head coach said Wednesday that Briah Reed, a recruiting staffer who happens to be the sister of Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed, will not be able to visit practice this week as the Tigers prepare to face A&M.
Drinkwitz termed it as a “conflict of interest” while talking to reporters on Wednesday’s SEC coaches teleconference. Drinkwitz did clarify that Briah can attend the first 5 periods of practice if she desires to this week.
Briah Reed, the sister of Texas A&M QB Marcel Reed, is the assistant director of on-campus recruiting at Mizzou. Tiger coach Eli Drinkwitz said on his SEC Teleconference she is not allowed to go to practice this week besides the first five periods due to a “conflict of interest.”

Briah Reed currently serves as Missouri’s assistant director of on-campus recruiting. Reed join Missouri’s recruiting department earlier this year.
Texas A&M coach Mike Elko also addressed the connection during his time on the SEC coaches teleconference on Wednesday. Elko took a different approach and joked that he was hoping to get some “secrets” from Reed’s observations at practice.
During the weekly SEC Teleconference, Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko jokingly commented on Marcel Reed's sister, Briah, being on staff at Mizzou: "I was hoping that maybe she could get out to practice and find some secrets for it."

It’s possible that Reed won’t start on Saturday for Texas A&M — starter Conner Weigman will be a game-time decision in Week 6, per Elko. However, Drinkwitz told reporters at his press conference on Tuesday that he expects Reed to get the nod whether Weigman is healthy or not.
Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. ET on Saturday afternoon.
