On Saturday, East Mississippi Community College DL Tyrone Clemons was killed in a car accident in Jones County, according to The Clarion-Ledger.

EMCC, which has been featured in the popular show “Last Chance U,” is grieving the loss of the talented player, who had recorded 16 tackles in 11 games this year.

According to EMCC’s Facebook page, the school is asking for thoughts and prayers for Clemons’ family as they go through this tough time:

“Our hearts are heavy today. Please keep our team, coaches, staff, and the EMCC family in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate this very difficult time. And more importantly, keep Ty’s family and friends in your thoughts and prayers as they deal with the unthinkable,” reads a Facebook post on EMCC’s page.

It’s always tragic when a young person loses their life, and this loss will certainly be on the minds of Clemons’ teammates as they prepare for the NJCAA National Championship in December.

EMCC is currently 10-1 and the No. 1 team in the NJCAA rankings.
