After being fired by LSU four games into last season, Les Miles claimed his goal was to continue coaching major college football. With the head coaching carousel currently at a standstill, and Miles on the outside looking in, the former LSU coach has found an ideal landing spot at ESPN.

ESPN announced Wednesday that Miles’ first job as an analyst will be Feb. 1 during the network’s 11-hour recruiting coverage on National Signing Day. Here are the details, via an ESPN press release.

Hosts Matt Schick and Joe Tessitore will keep fans up to date on all the news surrounding the day, led by national recruiting analyst Tom Luginbill, recruiting analyst Craig Haubert, and college football analysts Mike Bellotti, Mack Brown, Joey Galloway and David Pollack. The crew will be joined by former LSU head coach Les Miles, who will contribute to coverage throughout the day as a guest analyst, sharing his insight and experiences on the recruiting process.

If Miles performs well for the camera, as he typically has done in the past, it’s hard to imagine the former LSU coach not landing a larger role with the network heading into the 2017 season.

For example, if Lee Corso should decide to step away from his GameDay duties, Miles could be an ideal option to replace him. Another option could be putting Miles on the set of the SEC Network’s pregame show SEC Nation, where his extensive history with the league could prove to be a quality addition to the program.
