Last year, the SEC East had the better record against the West — 8-6. The only East team to have a losing record against the West ironically was Georgia, as the Bulldogs lost to both LSU during the regular season and Alabama in the SEC Championship Game.

This year, however, could be a different story, with the SEC West showing out through two weeks of the season.

ESPN released its updated SEC Power Rankings, and the West is already flexing on the East.

No. 2 Georgia and No. 5 Florida ranked in the top five, while Kentucky was the next highest ranked East team at No. 8. The league’s best team (right now) resides in the West in Alabama, while the two worst teams right now — Vanderbilt and Tennessee — are both from the East.

Perhaps the nation’s most talked about team in LSU ranks No. 3 behind Alabama and Georgia, with Auburn following closely at No. 4.
