ESPN updates 2025 NFL mock draft: Analysis, betting odds breakdown

ESPN updated its 2025 NFL mock draft on Tuesday afternoon.

Georgia’s Carson Beck is slotted in as the projected No. 1 overall pick in that draft. If Beck does go in that spot, he’d be the program’s first No. 1 overall pick since Travon Walker in 2022 (Jacksonville Jaguars).

Here’s some analysis on Beck’s game and draft stock from ESPN’s Matt Miller:

The Giants threw 15 touchdown passes last season (fifth fewest in the league) and Daniel Jones is coming off a season-ending ACL injury, but the team is running it back this year. Veteran Drew Lock was added as a backup, but there still isn’t a long-term answer under center on this roster. So the front office might get aggressive in finding one. Beck — my QB1 in the class at the moment — is a steady pocket passer with a big arm and great processing speed. And he is primed for a breakout season after throwing 24 touchdown passes and completing 72.4% of his throws in his first season as a starter in 2023.

Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders isn’t far behind, landing the No. 2 spot on Miller’s mock. The rest of the top-5 is filled out by non-quarterbacks: Michigan cornerback Will Johnson, Tennessee defensive lineman James Pearce Jr. and Texas offensive tackle Kelvin Banks Jr.

Although it’s still very early in the 2025 NFL Draft cycle, a couple sports books are already offering betting odds on next April’s draft.

Sanders is currently the favorite to go No. 1 overall at +400, per the latest odds from DraftKings. Beck isn’t far behind at +425. Pearce has by far the best odds of any non-quarterback, coming in at +525 to be the top pick.

There are few other quarterbacks who could get into the mix for the first pick as well. DraftKings currently has Quinn Ewers at +950, Jalen Milroe at +2000, Cam Ward at +2200, Drew Allar at +2500, Jaxson Dart at +2500 and Garrett Nussmeier at +3000.

With so much uncertainty, it may make more sense to place a bet on the position of the No. 1 pick. FanDuel is currently offering -165 odds that a quarterback goes No. 1 overall. If you think this is a year where a non-passer goes with that pick, you can bet “the field” at +125 odds.

Walker was the most recent non-quarterback to go first overall. Quarterbacks have been taken with the top pick in 6 of the last 7 NFL Drafts.
