ESPN updates Playoff Predictor after latest CFP Top 25
If the 2020 season ended today, then Alabama would be the lone SEC team in the College Football Playoff. However, there’s still time for things to change over the next few weeks.
The Crimson Tide remained No. 1 in the latest edition of the CFP rankings, which were released Tuesday night, while Texas A&M and Florida were the next highest-ranked SEC teams at Nos. 5 and 6, respectively. Notre Dame sits at No. 2, Clemson is No. 3 and Ohio State is No. 4.
ESPN also updated its Allstate Playoff Predictor with the latest odds for the top teams to reach this season’s College Football Playoff. And as expected, Alabama is currently in the best position to do so.
Here are the odds for the top teams to reach the CFP, per ESPN’s Playoff Predictor:
Alabama — 98%
Ohio State — 74%
Notre Dame — 54%
Clemson — 51%
Indiana — 37%
Texas A&M — 28%
Cincinnati — 27%
USC — 13%
Florida — 13%
Coastal Carolina — 2%
This makes zero sense. ESPN’s playoff predictor is quite broken. pic.twitter.com/qOThXDEC6z

If UF goes to the Cotton and TA&M goes to the Orange, that would suck on so many levels. Imagine Trask vs King with UF and scUM in the Orange Bowl. Keep the teams close to their fan bases – especially this year.
Florida 13%? For now I thought that would be higher…
Keeping Florida close to home as often as possible is a butbuddy Stankey Stickland thing, the bowl committees aren’t as SEC compromised…
I can see your point, personally I’d love to see the Aggs take on a Miami over a Oklahoma or Iowa state.
I hope the committee comes to its senses and says to make the CFP you need more than 6-7 games and more than 1-2 opponents with a winning record.
More than 2 opponents with winning records? If that criteria is used at the time teams actually play each other no one will qualify this year I’m afraid. As of a few weeks ago UF, aTm and Bama’s opponents totaled 10 more losses than wins overall…weird year.
Alabama will beat Florida and anyone else. Team is loaded! Roll Tide!
