As the official College Football Playoff rankings are set to come out next week, ESPN has released its latest College Football Playoff Predictor, and it features two SEC teams in the top five.

At 89 percent, Clemson has the best chance to make the playoff, followed by Alabama (85 percent), Notre Dame (66 percent), Michign (41 percent) and Georgia (30 percent) as the Bulldogs are tied with Oklahoma.

Surprisingly, LSU is listed eighth, below Ohio State, with a 14 percent chance to make the playoff even though many believe the Tigers are currently the second best team in the SEC.

The Playoff Predictor is formula that comes from studying the selection committee’s rankings during the season and on selection day each of the last four seasons.

Interestingly, Alabama has by far the best chance of winning the championship even though the Crimson Tide don’t have the best chance to make the Playoff. The Crimson Tide has a 39 percent chance of winning the championship, followed by Clemson at 28 percent, before a considerable drop.

Florida has a five percent chance of making the Playoff, and Texas A&M has a less than one percent chance. Kentucky, like TAMU, has less than one percent chance of making it.
