ESPN's FPI predicts the outcome of Texas A&M-Auburn in Week 13
ESPN’s Football Power Index always predicts the outcome of each college football game ahead of every week. With Week 12 now behind us, the model’s predictions for Week 13 have been revealed.
One of the SEC games this weekend is Texas A&M at Auburn. The model sees the Aggies as the favorite, giving the team a 57.9% chance to win. This means the Tigers are getting a 42.1% chance to pull off the upset at home.
The Aggies enter this matchup coming off an easy victory over New Mexico State in Week 12. The Aggies won 38-3 and improved to 8-2 on the season. The lone blemishes on the Aggies’ resume are losses to Notre Dame and South Carolina.
The Tigers, meanwhile, enter Week 13 having won 2 of their last 3 games. In Week 12, the Tigers dismantled UL Monroe, winning 48-14. Unfortunately for the Tigers, poor quarterback play and turnovers have doomed the season. Close losses to California, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Missouri have left a bad taste in the mouths of Auburn fans.
Week 13 is a pivotal game for the Aggies. FPI still gives the team a chance to win the SEC and/or make the College Football Playoff. A loss in Week 13 to a lesser opponent kills any of those ambitions in Mike Elko’s first season. After Auburn, the Aggies will end the regular season with a huge game against Texas.
For the Tigers, even making a bowl game seems unlikely. The team would have to win their final 2 games, against Texas A&M and Alabama, to do so.
These SEC foes have played 14 times in history, with the Aggies winning 8 of those contests. This Week 13 matchup will kick off from Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
A&M still struggles in road games. Big plays shut down opponent’s home field advantage & that is not what the Aggie offense does. If the Aggie defense lays an egg like @ S. Carolina Freeze might get his signature win.
