Every week during the college football season, ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit ranks his top four teams, which, obviously, is the same number of teams that qualify for the College Football Playoff at the end of the year.

Though he’s a fair and unbiased analyst, it was probably difficult for him to drop his alma mater, Ohio State, out of the top four after a loss to Oklahoma over the weekend.

However, that’s what he did, moving the Sooners into the No. 2 position behind No. 1 Alabama, with defending champion Clemson and USC out of the Pac-12 rounding out his list:

Most of Herbie’s list is unlikely to change this week, as Alabama hosts Colorado State, Oklahoma plays Tulane, USC takes on a struggling Texas squad.

However, the Clemson Tigers are hitting the road for a game against reigning Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson and the Louisville Cardinals.

If the Tigers pick up another big win, though, they may even be able to vault all the way to No. 1, but we’ll have to wait and see.
