ESPN’s SP+ has published a score prediction for this week’s marquee matchup between Tennessee and Georgia.
Bill Connelly shared the prediction earlier this week: Georgia 27, Tennessee 23.
That’s a closer projected score than Vegas is currently expecting. Georgia is a 10-point favorite over the Vols in Athens this weekend, according to the latest lines from most sports betting apps.
The stakes are as high as ever for both of these programs.
For Georgia, the Bulldogs are in a must-win situation if they want to make it back to the College Football Playoff. They’ve already dropped 2 games during the regular season, and a third loss would make it very unlikely for them to make it into the 12-team field barring some unexpected results down the stretch.
Tennessee only has 1 loss this season, but the Vols may also need a victory in order to ensure a spot in the CFP. At 10-2, Tennessee would be at risk of getting lost in the shuffle with other 2-loss teams from the SEC such as Georgia, Alabama, Ole Miss and Texas A&M.
Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday night.
