The SEC’s top teams are separating themselves from the rest of the pack in most polls, but ESPN’s Football Power Index is a little higher on the conference than most.

The SEC has eight teams in the top 35 of the post-Week 6 FPI poll, with Alabama checking in at the No. 1 spot.

As you can see below, ESPN ranks Alabama, Georgia, Auburn, Mississippi State, LSU, Florida, Texas A&M and South Carolina among the nation’s 35-best teams (the whole list can be found here):

  • No. 1 — Alabama
  • No. 7 — Georgia
  • No. 9 — Auburn
  • No. 20 — Mississippi State
  • No. 29 — LSU
  • No. 30 — Florida
  • No. 34 — Texas A&M
  • No. 35 — South Carolina
  • No. 51 — Tennessee
  • No. 52 — Kentucky
  • No. 59 — Arkansas
  • No. 68 — Vanderbilt
  • No. 71 — Ole Miss
  • No. 80 — Mizzou

Mizzou nearly pulled off the upset at Kentucky on Saturday night, but the Tigers still aren’t getting much respect in the polls. That’s what a 1-4 record will do, though.

Meanwhile, Georgia at No. 7 is a lot lower than most other polls, but the Bulldogs are still recognized as an elite team.
