Fans on social media are roasting North Carolina for reportedly re-hiring Mack Brown

North Carolina fired head coach Larry Fedora this weekend and one of the first names to be mentioned as a candidate was Mack Brown. On Monday morning it was widely reported that Brown had been hired as the next Tar Heels head coach.
Brown, 67, has been working as an ESPN studio analyst since stepping down from Texas after the 2013 season. Before coaching at UT, Brown was at North Carolina from 1988-97.
It comes as no surprise that many college football fans on social media are roasting North Carolina for revisiting the past.
Here’s a small sample of the Twitter reaction to news of Brown’s return to Chapel Hill:

Had to double-check the date to make sure it wasn’t a re-post from 1988.

Lol; “dear recruits, my name is Mack Brown and I’m a 70 year old washed up football coach trying to compete against Dabo”. That should really turn the program around…

Didn’t he leave UNC for what he said “A top tier football school ” …now he is back

How does UNC mess this up with the pick of the young guys in G5- Satterfield just sitting in your backyard to pluck 🤦♂️

Mack Brown averaged 7.5 wins per year with top-15 classes over his last four years at Texas, then sat out for five years. And UNC swooped in like “We’ve got move NOW before someone else snatches him up!”
