Most college football fans are passionate, but are also able to complain about a team’s poor performance without turning to threats of violence and racism.
However, we can only say “most fans,” because there are people like one Florida State fan, who posted an image of FSU head coach Willie Taggart’s face over a picture seemingly depicting a hanging.
You can see the image that was posted below, but be warned that it is very disturbing and contains NSFW language:
THIS MAKES ME SICK!!!!!
FSU fan Thomas Shand posted this about Seminoles head football coach Willie Taggart after his team finished 5-7 on the season. This guy has been a racist for years. I also added one of his post from back in 2015. @wusa9 @WUSA9sports @shaunking pic.twitter.com/8KeQN9Amwf

Taggart hasn’t been the only black head coach to draw Shand’s attention, though. He also went after Lovie Smith a couple of years ago:
Fortunately, Florida State immediately stepped in and defended Taggart against the ignorant and offensive tweets, saying the state attorney is investigating the tweet:
1/2 A recent racist social media post aimed at our football coach is ignorant and despicable. I speak for the entire FSU community in expressing our disgust and extreme disappointment, and I am glad the state attorney is investigating.

2/2 Coach Taggart has our full support and as true Seminoles know, he is a respected member of the FSU family. — FSU President John Thrasher

Yes, Taggart struggled this year, going 5-7 in his first season at the helm of the Florida State program. However, there’s never a need for racist behavior like the kind that was depicted above.
It’s just a game, folks.
