Florida State defeated Louisville 16-6 on Saturday night to clinch its first 13-0 season since 2014.
The Noles will now wait to find out if they’ve done enough to reach the College Football Playoff. No undefeated power 5 champion has ever been left out of the CFP before, but FSU’s offense has struggled mightily since losing Jordan Travis to a season-ending injury in Week 12.
FSU was dealt another tough blow this weekend as true freshman Brock Glenn had to step in for backup quarterback Tate Rodemaker, who was out with a concussion. Glenn was making his first career start and did not have a great day throwing the ball, which led to quite a bit of criticism of FSU’s CFP hopes.
There are as many as 5 other teams who have a legitimate claim to the CFP this season besides Florida State — Michigan, Washington, Texas, Alabama and Georgia.
After the final buzzer sounded on FSU’s perfect season, fans and media began to debate whether or not FSU has done enough to prove itself as one of the 4 best teams in the country.
Here’s the best of the reaction to Florida State’s win and its CFP case:
Florida State played 13 games. They played two games against the SEC. They won every game. You can’t punish them because they had a couple of injuries. They belong in the playoff. The format is stupid. It got exposed this year. Deal with it.

Florida State is the only team to hold Louisville to single digits this season

Two things can be true.
1. Florida State deserves to be in the playoff.
2. Florida State should not be in the playoff. What a mess ??

Florida State just went 13-0 with a non-con game against LSU. If you keep them out you’re a clown.

If you think Florida state doesn’t belong in the playoff I have bad news for your intelligence level

In the greatest team sport ever known to mankind CHAMPIONSHIP teams are those that just find whys to win. No matter the circumstance. Florida State has done that all year long. They have EARNED a right to keep that quest for a title alive. #perfect

Florida State lost two QBs in the stretch run and still — yes it was ugly at times — emerged an undefeated Power Five champion.
What more can you ask them to do? If the Seminoles don't get in, the games truly never mattered.

Florida State had the most dominant defensive performance of the weekend. And it’s not close.

Michigan, Washington, Texas are in….
Now the debate: Alabama or Florida State.
You want BEST: It's Alabama
You want MOST DESERVING: It's Florida State (undef P-5 champ).
Committee's mission: four BEST teams.
I think we know the answer.

The committee is once again considering a Florida State team that is 13-0 with some very questionable wins. pic.twitter.com/GkI9Y3yilg

Florida State should be in
because of what they've done this year
not because of what they will do from here
I'm not excited to watch them play in the semis
but their team absolutely deserves to be there
an outstanding undefeated season
