Move over, Texas. The Texas A&M Aggies are the new financial kings, of not only the football’s biggest state, but of all college football.

According to a report from Forbes, Texas A&M leads all college football teams in both revenue and profit. The new report is based on averages from the 2014, 2015 and 2016 seasons. During those years, Texas A&M football averaged $148 million in revenue and $107 in profit.

Texas finished second with $133 million in revenue and $87 million in profit. Four SEC teams made the Top 10, but Alabama was the only other team in the conference inside the Top 5 with Texas A&M.

Auburn, LSU and Florida rounded out the Top 10 teams in terms of revenue, finishing in the No. 8, 9 and 10 spots, respectively. Of the 11 teams who averaged more than $100 million in revenue from 2014-16, six of them were from the SEC.

Here’s a complete breakdown of the revenues and profits of the top college football programs.

Forbes credited the Texas A&M surged on the list to fundraising efforts that began in 2014. Kyle Field underwent a $485 million renovation, and another $68 million went towards building new stadiums for the softball and track teams.

Another edge Texas A&M had against Texas was conference revenue. The SEC distributed nearly $41 million per school while the Big 12 pie equated to about $34 million per school. Texas A&M left the Big 12 for the SEC in 2012.

With that distribution amount going to all SEC schools, it’s no wonder the conference dominates the top of the list.

It will be interesting to see if Texas A&M can stay at the top of this list long. In order to do so, Aggies football must start winning, but one thing is clear – when it comes to making money, the SEC is the best.
