Nevada is one school who went through preseason camp with a quarterback competition. But now the Wolfpack have reportedly found their starter.

Carson Strong, a redshirt freshman, beat out former Florida State and Independence Community College quarterback Malik Henry, according to Brett McMurphy of Stadium, who was shown on the Netflix series ‘Last Chance U.’ Henry was at one point a 5-star recruit, but signed as a 4-star to Florida State in 2016. He was viewed as an unpopular figure at Independence on the Netflix series after he was portrayed as a player who fought with coaches and teammates.

At Independence, Henry played one season and saw action in two games and completed 19-of-43 of his passes for 237 yards and one touchdown.

Strong appeared in one game for the Wolfpack last season, in which he didn’t throw a pass but rushed for four yards. The former 3-star recruit was a part of Nevada’s Class of 2018.

Henry reportedly missed an early scrimmage, according to Andrew Nepsund of KTVN, and dealt with a hamstring injury, according to the Mountain West wire.

Nevada opens the season on Aug. 30 against Purdue.
