Former A&M player Martellus Bennett blasts Twitter critics with expletive rant
Martellus Bennett played a big role on this year’s Super Bowl winning team for the New England Patriots.
Initially, he was a mauler when it came to run-blocking. When Rob Gronkowski went down with a season-ending injury, the former Texas A&M star became more of a focal point in the passing game. He caught 55 passes for 701 yards, and led the team with seven touchdown grabs.
He’s currently a free agent — and there are questions as to whether New England can afford to resign him. Bennett likely will be the top free agent tight end available on the market.
Patriots’ fans have been very vocal on social media about Bennett taking a possible pay-cut in order to stay in New England.
He had this to say on the matter (Foul language is used):
And stop @'ing me about taking less money. You take less money and your job? All of you take a pay cut hahaha.

Everyone trying to guess what another man is thinking and projecting that into the world is irresponsible.

Damn reports are like the people that talk during the movie trying to guess who the killer is.

Ass-umptions.

Interestingly enough, Gronkowski was asked about Bennett’s impending free agency. He was very supportive of his (potentially former) teammate:
“I’m hoping that he breaks the bank. Whenever you see a tight end break the bank, it’s good for the industry; it’s good for the position. You want to see the position grow.”
For all of the Twitter haters out there, Bennett opted to take the high road and offer this parting message:
