The first FBS school to fire a head coach this season has found its replacement.

Bowling Green announced Wednesday that it has hired Scot Loeffler, most recently the offensive coordinator at Boston College, to take over the program. From 2009-10, Loeffler was quarterbacks coach at Florida — where he mentored Tim Tebow for one season — before later serving as Auburn’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2012.

Loeffler, 44, has never been a head coach before. He succeeds Mike Jinks, who was fired Oct. 14 after going 7-24 over parts of three seasons.

After playing quarterback at Michigan in the mid-1990s, Loeffler also spent time coaching his alma mater, Central Michigan, the Detroit Lions, Temple and Virginia Tech.
