In the “that didn’t take long” category, the University of Washington, which announced Sunday that it had fired head coach Jimmy Lake, is already looking for its next head coach. Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports names former Mississippi State head coach Joe Moorhead as a top candidate for the Huskies.

Moorhead landed at Oregon as the offensive coordinator after 2 seasons at MSU. The Ducks are currently 32nd in the country in total offense averaging about 441 yards per game.

Moorhead has an overall head coaching record of 52-25 and has been a very successful offensive coordinator in the past before coming to Mississippi State.

Moorhead was hired as the Bulldogs head coach in late 2017 after Dan Mullen’s departure for Florida. MSU went 14-12 in 2 seasons (2018-19) under Moorhead. He was fired after the Bulldogs dropped the Music City Bowl following the 2019 season.
