Former SEC defenders Lorenzo Carter and Markus Golden combine for New York Giants' 'scoop and score' against New England Patriots
A pair of former SEC East defenders combined for a defensive highlight on Thursday night.
When former Georgia outside linebacker Lorenzo Carter sacked Tom Brady in the second quarter, the ball came out. Luckily for the New York Giants, former Missouri defensive end Markus Golden was there to scoop it up and take it all the way back for a defensive touchdown. Golden’s 42-yard return tied the game at 14-14. One would hope there was a viewer somewhere chanting S-E-C during the play.

Golden’s 42-yard return tied the game at 14-14. New England answered, however, with a touchdown scored on a signature Brady sneak.
The Patriots lead the Giants 21-14 at the half. The game can be seen on FOX, the NFL Network and Amazon Prime. Carter and Golden each have two total tackles through the first two quarters.
