Former NFL Super Bowl winning QB and ESPN analyst Trent Dilfer was named the head football coach at Lipscomb Academy in Nashville on Friday.

Most recently, Dilfer had been an Elite 11 coach for high school QBs, and he’d been featured on ESPN multiple years during the competition.

Dilfer was introduced Friday.

“I did not do this for a career move,” he said during his press conference. “This is a calling. I believe the God that I serve has so much in store for me too.”

Dilfer’s youngest daughter, Delaney, is committed to Lipscomb University to play volleyball; so, he has a connection to the area, per The Tennessean.

The former signal caller won Super Bowl XXXV with the Baltimore Ravens in 2000. He played 14 seasons in the NFL and threw for over 20,500 yards during his career.

Dilfer’s passion and energy was evident while he was featured during the Elite 11 competition, and coaching looks to be very much a passion for him. Nashville is one of the fastest growing cities in the country, and it features more and more high school talent.

The Lipscomb Academy has gone 3-19 in the past two seasons.
