The College Football Playoff selection committee revealed its initial Top 25 of the 2019 season on Tuesday night. The committee’s top six teams entering Week 11 are (in order) Ohio State, LSU, Alabama, Penn State, Clemson and Georgia.

Ohio State over LSU and Penn State over Clemson were the rankings that had people buzzing on social media. CBS broadcaster Gary Danielson used a different form of media Wednesday to share his thoughts on the rankings. On “The Opening Kickoff” on WNSP-FM 105.5 in Mobile, Alabama with Mark Helm and Lee Shirvanian, Danielson said that the committee isn’t making it clear whether “resume” or “eye test” matters more when deciding where teams should be ranked.

“Frankly, I don’t get it,” Danielson said, per Helm. “They seem to contradict themselves in a lot of situations. It isn’t an easy job, but it’s easy to pick apart what they are saying after it’s done.

“They have a hard time projecting Ohio State deserves it more than LSU. And, if they are going by the eye ball test, it would be just as tough to say LSU isn’t No. 1.”

Danielson shared that his current field of four is LSU, Ohio State, Alabama and Clemson. His thoughts on the Clemson-Penn State debate can be found in Helm’s writeup for AL.com.
