Georgia-Alabama supremacy: Big Noon Kickoff panel in agreement over top 2 teams in college football

If the College Football Playoff started today, FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff crew is in near-universal agreement: both Georgia and Alabama would be in the 4-team field.

The Saturday pregame show features Bob Stoops, Reggie Bush, Matt Leinart, Brady Quinn, and Rob Stone. FOX put out a graphic on Tuesday highlighting that all 5 men believe the Bulldogs and Crimson Tide not only deserve to be in the field, but are the best 2 teams in football.

There is a tiny bit of dissension among the ranks, as Quinn would make Ohio State No. 3 over Oregon and Stone would put Cincinnati over Ohio State. Stone is the only one that has the unbeaten Bearcats in his top 4. The rest has the field as the CFP selection committee currently sees it—the No. 1 spot goes to 10-0 Georgia, the 9-1 Tide sit at No. 2, and the Ducks and Buckeyes, each with 1 loss, fill out the remaining 2 spots.

That’s if the Playoffs started today, which, spoiler alert, they do not.

Georgia and Alabama are headed for a collision course in the SEC Championship. With the Tide already having a loss on their resume, it remains to be seen whether the CFP selection committee would include Alabama should it lose to Georgia in Atlanta.

Ohio State still has to play top-10 teams in Michigan State and Michigan in its final 2 regular-season games, as well as whoever wins the Big Ten West in the Big Ten Championship. There’s a possibility Oregon could play the 7-3 Utah Utes twice—once this upcoming weekend and then again in a Pac-12 title game rematch.
