Georgia and Auburn provided an entertaining game for college football fans, and they turned out in droves for CBS.
It was the most-watched Week 5 game for CBS since 2015, and up 51% from last season, as it averaged 6.399 million viewers, and peaked at 9.69 million. It was the second most-watched game of the week behind USC at Colorado, according to Sports Media Watch, as the Trojans and Buffaloes attracted 7.24 million viewers.
For context, the latest Colorado game was the team’s smallest audience of the season.
The SEC had 4 of the top 8 games in terms of viewership, including LSU-Ole Miss, Alabama-Mississippi State and Florida-Kentucky, as the Rebels, Crimson Tide and Wildcats prevailed.
This week shapes up to be another ratings winner, as the “SEC on CBS” marquee game is Alabama at Texas A&M at 3:30 p.m. ET, and the undefeated showdown in Athens pits Kentucky at Georgia at 7 p.m. on ESPN.
