Greg McElroy broke down his personal list of the top 15 teams on the latest episode of Always College Football.

McElroy has Alabama at No. 1 on his ranking after its win over Georgia at home on Saturday night. Four of the top 5 teams on his list also hail from the SEC — Texas, Tennessee and Georgia being the others. Ohio State is the lone non-SEC team on his list, slotting in at No. 4.

McElroy said he believes Alabama’s home win over UGA is the best win that any team in the country can claim through 5 weeks.

“They beat Georgia,” McElroy said. “Was it as convincing as Texas’ win against Michigan? No it was not. But I think Georgia is a whole heck of a lot better than Michigan. Just saying. Alabama should be one.”

Tennessee, Texas and Georgia all have ranked wins on their résumé already this season. McElroy said he’s sticking with Ohio State at No. 4 based on the strength of the roster.

“Yes, they haven’t beat anybody just yet,” McElroy said of the Buckeyes. “I still am convinced though that with this roster, with this talent, they can go with anybody. They just haven’t had the chance … Iowa coming up pretty soon, at Oregon, that will give us a pretty good feel for where they’re at.”

Here’s what McElroy’s full top 15 looks like after 5 weeks:

  1. Alabama
  2. Texas
  3. Tennessee
  4. Ohio State
  5. Georgia
  6. Penn State
  7. Miami
  8. Oregon
  9. Clemson
  10. Missouri
  11. Notre Dame
  12. Michigan
  13. USC
  14. BYU
  15. Ole Miss

McElroy’s rankings include 6 teams from the SEC, 5 teams from the Big Ten, 2 teams from the ACC, 1 team from the Big 12 and 1 independent (Notre Dame).

The Week 6 AP Poll is relatively similar to this, at least in terms of the teams who were included. McElroy has BYU at No. 14 while the AP Top 25 has the Cougars at No. 17. Meanwhile, McElroy does not have LSU ranked while the AP Poll has the Tigers at No. 13.
